Why Better Gear Never Fixed My Filmmaking
7 January 2026
There's an assumption in hospitality marketing that premium production means more equipment — more cameras, more lights, a bigger crew. It rarely works that way. Every gear upgrade I've made improved my footage by maybe 10%. Learning to read a room, understand light, and make decisions before the shoot started — that's what changed everything. For venues commissioning video, it's a useful reality check: the difference between a film that feels expensive and one that doesn't is almost never the camera. It's the eye behind it and the decisions made before anyone presses record.
